We’re thrilled to announce that Dr. Philip has been awarded a major research grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to advance pioneering work in neuromodulation using LIFUP with the BrainSonix system. The funded project, titled “A new paradigm for depression and anxiety”, supports first-in-human research aimed at developing a novel LIFUP-based intervention for patients living with mood disorders like depression and anxiety.
This NIH-supported initiative underscores the promise of LIFUP as a non-invasive, high-precision neuromodulation modality with the potential to transform how we understand and treat affective disorders. Dr. Philip’s work will focus on translating mechanistic insights into a clinical approach that safely targets deep brain circuits implicated in mood regulation, a critical
step toward expanding treatment options for individuals who have not found relief with existing therapies.
BrainSonix congratulates Dr. Philip on this achievement and applauds his leadership in pushing the boundaries of ultrasound neuromodulation research. We look forward to the continued evolution of this work and its potential to deliver meaningful impact for patients worldwide.
