We’re excited to announce that Dr. Martin Monti has received a Department of Defense (DoD) grant TP230324 to support his innovative research using BrainSonix LIFUP technology for Disorders of Consciousness (DOC) following severe brain injury. This award highlights the progress Dr. Monti is making in developing new non-invasive neuromodulation approaches for one of the most challenging conditions in neuroscience and neurorehabilitation.

Dr. Monti’s work explores how transcranial ultrasound stimulation can target deep brain circuits, such as the central thalamus, that play a key role in arousal and conscious awareness. Prior research from Dr. Monti and colleagues has helped lay the foundation for this field by demonstrating the feasibility and safety of non-invasive ultrasonic modulation in patients with prolonged DOC, an area where traditional treatments have been limited.

BrainSonix applauds Dr. Monti for this achievement and supports his continued leadership in translating focused ultrasound technologies into meaningful clinical applications for patients and families affected by DOC.
